Is this okay so far and does it hook you in- part of my first chapter?

The first line did indeed hook me in, I will say, simple and straight forward. It was also very exciting, though it moved a little quickly as we never got to know Lucy as anything but bad. Therefore, no emotional loss. Also watch the adjectives. Too many makes it trite.
