What car should I buy?

I'm looking to buy a small two door, I have 5000 to spend. I like acura integras and honda preludes but is hard to find a clean one. I also thought about buying a civic hatch and dropping a good engine into it. Any ideas on what I should do? I'm not looking for a super fast car, but has to be quick.
